Works in Progress

I am currently working on a cultural history of glitter. Imagined as a short book, this project will explore issues ranging from glitter’s association with LGBTQ communities to its recent framing as an environmental pollutant.

Meanwhile, I have recently started projects on two contemporary Indigenous culture-makers whose work satirizes the trope of the “Ecological Indian”: poet Tommy Pico (Kumeyaay) and visual artist Wendy Red Star (Apsáalooke). The latter project is a collaboration with my colleague Salma Monani (Gettysburg College).
